SPEAKER: B.C. Provincial Court Judge Adrian Brooks
TOPIC: A View From The Bench
Judge Brooks attended Mount Doug Secondary School and then the University of Victoria before graduating law school from Toronto’s Osgoode Hall. As a young law student, he managed to land a coveted spot articling for criminal lawyer and legal pioneer Eddie Greenspan where he learned how to handle himself in court and, more importantly, how to defend a criminal case.
After moving back to Victoria, Judge Brooks articled with Dermod Owen-Flood, who later became B.C. Supreme Court Justice Owen-Flood. Judge Brooks was called to the British Columbia bar in 1984 and practised law here for 25 years. It is likely that the name Adrian Brooks is familiar to you because while he was a lawyer he had many high profile cases, but likely none as notorious as his time on the defence team for Robert (Willie) Pickton.
Judge Brooks will be speaking on his views from the Bench and, if time permits, about the B.C. Provincial Integrated Court program.
